AS is putting on an upper campus Christmas party that will reach over 1,000 students. The event will take place Dec. 5 on the walkway between Horton and Emerson, and will be open to all upper campus students.

“AS is thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity for students. People are really, really excited about it,” said Michael Towson, Sigma senator. “Students [will be] able to kick back and relax before finals start.”

Organizers acknowledged that students will probably already have attended multiple smaller Christmas parties, and they want to make this one special. They decided to create a different atmosphere by ordering two snow machines to put in the courtyard where the party will take place. For entertainment, there will be a live band.

Besides the upper campus Christmas party, there will also be a commuter Christmas party and a Block Apartments Christmas Cruise.

The commuter Christmas party is open to all commuter students, even if they are not members of the Collegium. For entertainment, the King’s Men will be singing and there will be a magician, local jazz musician and talent show. The theme will be “Ugly Sweater Christmas Party.”

The Block Apartments Christmas Cruise will be available to everyone living in the Block Apartments. Organizers expect 120 people to attend.

It will be a dessert cruise on a yacht, and spots are expected to fill quickly.

There will also be a “Blue Christmas” event on Dec. 6, when ELS and the Social Board will bring in bands. It will be similar to an Eddy, but will be larger and Christmas-themed.

Also coming up is a Thrice concert. It will take place on Dec. 9 at the House of Blues in Anaheim at Downtown Disney at 7 p.m. AS will be selling tickets for $15 and will accept checks from students.

Another major AS project is installing Wi-Fi on campus. Lee, Emerson and Welsh should have Wi-Fi by next summer and installation should be completed in Thompson by spring. Hart will probably be the last to get Wi-Fi, but it is also in the works.

There is a Thanksgiving tonight, at which President Corey will be carving the turkey from 5:30-6 p.m.
A Scientology lecture in Moat’s Hall will be held Friday in the business building.
