Hip hop musicians, break dancers, gospel rappers and graffiti artists all gathered together on Metzger Lawn for the annual Sola Soul show Friday night, Nov. 7.

The event began with a duet by Jose Palos and Xavier Cornelius performing original gospel rap songs. The second act was arguably the best of the night with little Issac Lopez solo break dancing to songs by Chris Brown. The trio group, Paul Yun, Long Tran, and Seong Hoon, each showed their unique style of hip hop dance in the third act of the night.

The main performer, Mr. J Medeiros, played a whole set of songs, some of which are off his upcoming album “Of Gods and Girls.” Medeiros sang a wide range of songs, some of which spoke of heartbreak and others of social injustice.

After a short intermission, the dance group “In Rhythm With Him” performed both old and new styles of break dancing. The last group of the night was the rap group The Breax, who performed one of their songs “Bumper Sticker.”
