First topic? First impressions:

Q: We were recently asked, “Hey Axel and B-Mar, how do you get a girl to notice you on a first impression?”

A: First impressions. We all have them. But we’re not going to lie, bro, a woman’s first impression is probably harder to get past than you think. Women critique men. You have to understand they do this for a reason; so many guys approach them all the time, they have no choice but to start profiling you the second you look at them! “His shoes don’t match his shirt.” “What in the world is he wearing?” “Gross, I hate scruffy facial hair!” “He’s been standing there way too long, and if he thinks I’m going to talk to him after staring at me like that, he ought to think again!”

Consequently, as a man trying to capture her attention with a good first impression, you need some practical advice that works. Remember these things:

  1. Dress nicely: Clean yourself up (ask a good female friend to give you advice on what to wear — she’d love to tell you).
  2. Be different: She probably thinks you’re picking up on her as soon as you approach, so just make it good and funny (women like men who make them laugh). Don’t try to hide the fact that you’re picking up on her; girls like confident men who can do this with style. Rule of thumb? It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.
  3. Hold eye contact: When you see her, hold her eyes, and don’t look away. If you’re really feeling like layin’ it down, give her the wink…
  4. Beware of body language: Women say a lot without saying it. Clue into it by making note of the messages she sends through her eyes, facial expression and body.
