Women’s golf competed in its last NCAA Division lI tournament of the fall season at the California State University San Marcos Fall Classic at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos, Calif. on Oct. 30-31.

On the first day of the tournament, the Eagles placed eighth on the team leaderboard with a first round score of 322 and 34 pars. Freshman Marcel Manalo and sophomore Tori Roeske both tied for 26th and lead the Eagles on the individual leaderboard with a first round score of 79. Sophomore Jules Loibl shot an 80 and tied for 35th. Sophomore Alexis Gopfert shot an 84 and freshman Sophia Karnazes shot an 87.

At the end of the second and final day, the San Marcos B team finished in the lead with an overall score of 594, followed by their A team in second place with an overall score of 605. Sarah Garcia of CSUSM lead the way on the individual scoreboard as well with an overall score of 147. The Eagles finished in eighth with their second round score of 319, three strokes less than Monday’s score. The Eagles’ overall score of the tournament was 641, placing them eight strokes behind the University of Victoria which placed in seventh.

The Eagles also moved up places on the individual leaderboard. Roseke shot a 78, which ended her tie with Manalo. Loibl shot a 77 on the second day and scored 157 overall, which put her in a tie with Roseke. Both Roeske and Loibl decreased their number of strokes compared to Monday’s scores. Manalo shot another 79 and scored 158 overall, which moved her into a tie for 30th, ending her first collegiate season with a consistency of scoring in the 70s. Gopfert placed in a tie for 57th after shooting an 85 and scoring 169 overall. Karnazes tied for 64th after shooting an 85 and scoring 172 overall. Sophomore Bella Larson carded an 81 and freshman Rachel Reynolds shot an 82 for her second round.

The women’s next tournament will be at Point Loma Nazarene University Reach at the Riverwalk Golf Course in San Diego, Calif. on Feb. 5-6.
