With a third of the season underway, the Eagles took their third win of the season against the Caltech Beavers 5-4.

Despite a quick 1-0 lead, thanks to sophomore David Garcia’s 6-4, 6-2 victory over his Beaver opponent, the Eagles found themselves in a 1-2 hole after sophomores Joe Turnquist and David Vartuli lost both of their matches.

Junior Luke Mountain, who won 6-4, 6-4; and sophomore Lucas Lee, who won 6-2, 6-3, gave the Eagles the lead, defeating both their opponents in the next two sets.

With the score 3-2, the Eagles held off the Beavers and sophomore Philip Westwood shut the door and won the last set for the Eagles 6-1 and 6-2.

At the beginning of the doubles round, Mountain and Lee beat Caltech 8-5. The Beavers struck back in the last two sets of the doubles round, beating Garcia and Vartuli and then defeating Westwood and Turnquist.

With another victory in the books, the Eagles next match will be against Golden State Athletic Conference rival Hope International University on Tuesday, March 1 at 2 p.m.
