After three rounds in the Arizona Christian University Invite on Feb. 16, the Biola men’s golf team found themselves in 10th place out of the 13 teams participating. This result is significantly worse than when the Eagles placed second out of seven teams in the ACU Fall Invite.

Significantly Worse

Freshman Kyle McAbee shot the lowest for the Eagles in the tournament, finishing nine over par and resulting in a tie for 38th place individually. Senior William Langworthy finished two strokes behind McAbee, resulting in a tie for 46th and the second best score on Biola’s scorecard.

The other three players for Biola finished in a three way tie for 50th. Freshmen Austin Bishop, Dominic Ariando and sophomore Samuel Shih all shot 13 over par.

Johnson & Wales University of Providence, R.I. took first in the tournament and shot 11 under par, 53 strokes better than Biola. The host school Arizona Christian took second with a final team score of -3, followed by The Master’s College at +4.

This tournament score is the second highest over par that the men’s team has finished this season. They shot 84 over par in the Marymount Fall Invite.

Regular Season

The men’s team has two more regular season tournaments before the Golden State Athletic Conference championship tournament starting on April 25. Biola will get a chance to redeem themselves from their performance in the ACU Invite when they compete in The Master’s College Mustang Invite on Feb. 29.
