Heidi Herchelroath, manager of housing services, revisited Student Government Association to continue their conversation last semester about apartment selection. SGA partnered with housing services who conducted a survey and results showed a majority of students prefered that apartments should be raffled off ahead of time, priority should be based on seniority and students must be 20 years of age or older. These factors have been taken into account by housing services and a new apartment selection plan will be announced at information sessions on Feb. 25 from 6-7 p.m. or Feb. 26 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
SGA members discussed new ways to reach students, specifically using iPads otherwise used for voting, to help gain student feedback about proposals presented to the senate. Though senators will still use their discretion in voting, they believe having students complete surveys on the iPads in which they would chose whether or not they would pass proposed student initiatives would help senators better consider the opinions of students.
Senators also considered improvements in communicating information from their President Administrative Council partnerships with students. In addition, they discussed personal goals for the semester to better fulfill their positions in their partnerships as they work aiding students.
Student tickets for the Lecrae concert went on sale at Ticketfly.com on Feb. 12. More information about how to utilize the student discount will be given to students through SGA newsletters the following week, but students can contact the SGA office sooner for further information.
SGA and SMU leadership campaigning will occur until Feb. 16 and voting will begin on Feb. 17 at 12:01 a.m. and will last until Feb. 18 at 10 p.m. Students can vote in person at the Flour Fountain or online.
