Women’s basketball wins two in a row

The Eagles beat La Sierra, improve their record to 2-1.

The women’s basketball team wrapped up their first homestand after their game on Nov. 7 against La Sierra University. beating them 81-43. This is the second time in a row the Eagles have overscored their opponent by more than 31.

The Eagles dropped their season opener to Bethesda College 93-62, but bounced back in the following game with their first win of the season against California Maritime University. After overcoming La Sierra, they women’s basketball team now stands with a 2-1 overall season record.

In the first quarter of the game, the women’s basketball team shot ahead of La Sierra by 16 points and allowed their opponent to score only three points. By halftime, the Eagles built a substantial 34-13 lead over La Sierra. At the last buzzer the Eagles walked off the court with a 81-43 victory.

Two of the Eagles’ starters fueled the offense and scored nearly half of Biola’s points.  Senior guard Demoria White played for 24 minutes and scored 21 points with five assists. Fellow senior guard Aubree Mittel made 17 points and had two assists in the 27 minutes she played.

With a winning record, the women’s basketball will hit the road and play against La Sierra in Riverside on Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m.
