Men’s basketball continues to win in the desert

The Eagles maintain impressive season start with second straight win in Arizona.

The Eagles continued their strong 2-0 start to the season with a victory against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, beating them 95-62.

Four Eagles made a double digit amount of points throughout the game. Junior forward Jeff Gonzalez led the team in points, ending the game with contributing 24 points to the board. He made five out of his six free throws, eight field goals and three three-point shots.

Following up his performance in the game against Benedictine University, senior guard Terrell Funches made 19 points with six field goals and two three-point field goals. Those points, along with points he made in the game against Benedictine, gives him 43 points on the year.

Both senior guard Caelan Tiongson and freshman guard Trevor Treinen made over nine points during the game. Tiongson contributed 16 points and Treinen finished his second college-level basketball game with 14.  

The men’s basketball team prepare to play their first home game on Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. They will once again face off against the Benedictine University Redhawks who they beat in Arizona in the season opener 84-60.
