For their first game of the season, the men’s basketball team took a trip to Arizona to take the court against the Benedictine University Redhawks. In the end, the Eagles overwhelm their opponent by beating them 84-60.

During the first half the Eagles built a commanding lead over the Redhawks. By the time the buzzer rang at the end of the first half Biola led the game 46-29. They outscored Benedictine in the second half and after making 38 more points, the Eagles beat the Redhawks 84-60.

Responsible for nearly half of the Eagles’ points was junior guard Dakari Archer. After playing for a full 36 minutes, Archer made 32 points. Archer also made 9 out of the 12 free throws he had during the game.

Following close behind him with double digit points scored was senior guard Terrell Funches. Funches not only scored 24 points, but ended the game with perfect shooting, going 9-9 and 5-5 behind the arc.

The Eagles followed up their high scoring season opener with another win in the desert. The men’s basketball team stayed in Arizona to go up against the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Hawks. The Eagles outscored themselves from the previous game and beat the Hawks 95-62.

Now the Eagles prepare to fly back to the nest as they once again take on the Redhawks for the season’s first home game on Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
