The No. 1 women’s volleyball team faced off against William Jessup University for the second time this season on Oct. 24. After beating the Warriors 3-0 on the road Sept. 18, the Eagles were able to repeat the results at home, winning 3-0.

Biola was confident in their ability to beat the Warriors at home, and used the time to focus on different areas of their game for future matchups.

“Our focus is probably just to get better,” said Crissy Cunningham, senior right side hitter. “We obviously want to focus on the other team to do well, but our focus is just to focus on the things that we aren’t as strong at and try to get better at those skills.”

The Eagles were able to blow out the Warriors in the first two sets, winning by double-digits in each. In the first set, Biola led 19-10 and closed it out with a 6-0 run to win 25-10. They closed the second set in a similar fashion, winning 10 points in a row to finish 25-11.

William Jessup put up more of a fight in the third set, achieving 15 points before allowing Biola to get 25.

With this win, Biola improves to 22-2 for the season, while being 11-1 in the Golden State Athletic Conference and 11-0 at home.

“Playing at home is definitely nice because that way the opponents don’t have a crowd of hecklers and what not,” said Alyssa Mason, senior outside hitter. “But I don’t know, I feel like our mindset is the same no matter where we play our goal is just to win and focus but being home with the support is nice.”

The Eagles next match is against The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, Calif. on Oct. 27. Master’s is currently fourth in GSAC with a conference record of 8-3.
