The men’s and women’s golf teams took a trip to the desert to play in their second tournament of the year. This tournament was a 6,100 yard, 72 par invite put on by Embry Riddle University in Prescott, Ariz. After two days, the men’s team took home second place and the women’s team finished in fourth.

The women’s team wrapped up the invite with a team total of 967 strokes. Although they would cumulatively take fourth place, one of the newest members of the team, freshman Mychaela Graf, took first place individually in the tournament. In the first round she had 79 strokes and followed up with 74 in the next round. In her final round she had 76 strokes and finished her time in the desert 13 over par with a total of 229 strokes.

The men improved their placement from their first tournament by finishing in second place. Senior William Langsworthy was the highest Eagle to fly individually in the men’s tournament, tying for third place. In the first round he was two under par with 70 strokes, but went three over in the second round. He finished up the tournament with another 70 strokes in the third round that evened him out to one under par.

Another Eagle who found himself in the top five was freshman Kyle McAbee. McAbee had 70 and 73 strokes in his first two rounds. He wrapped up the tournament with 73 more strokes in the third round and ended up with 215 total strokes. Their strokes added with the other three golfers totaled out to 881 strokes.

After their back-to-back tournaments in the desert, the Eagles travel locally to CSU San Marcos to play in their next tournament on Oct. 26 and 27.
