The women’s basketball team got back on their feet after a disappointing loss to Arizona Christian University with a solid 74-48 win against San Diego Christian College. The win puts the Eagles’ overall record at 14-11 and 6-5 in conference.

Biola hit a rough patch in the middle of their season. Things looked to be turning around for the team when they defeated William Jessup University on Jan. 29 to snap out of a four game losing streak. However, five days later, the Eagles dropped their game against Arizona due to poor shooting from all angles on the court.

“We wanted to find our rhythm again,” said freshman guard DeMoria White. “We wanted to get back on track and are excited for this win to help us do that.”

The Eagles had a significantly better shooting night against San Diego compared to Arizona Christian. Biola kept the lead the entire night and had 22 of their points coming from the bench.

The next four games for Biola will prove important for their standing in the Golden State Athletic Conference championship. The Eagles are currently tied for sixth in conference along with Westmont College. Biola will go up against Hope International University on Feb. 14 for the second time this season. The last time Biola competed against the Royals, they defeated them 85-59.

“They have a chip on their shoulder because we beat them last time,” White said. “We just have to go in hard and strong from the beginning, but if we play together we can come up on top and hopefully keep winning from there.”

The Eagles have their eyes set on going to the NAIA national championship tournament. To do that they need to beat some of the top seeded teams in GSAC.

“We need to knock off some of the top teams in GSAC like Concordia,” White said “It would help to knock them down and better our record so we can go to Nationals.”

The Eagles play HIU on Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m.
