Swim and Dive collect top finishes

The swim teams competed in one last meet before the Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference championship begins.

The men’s and women’s swim team knocked out a few first place finishes in their meet against Concordia University and Azusa Pacific University. Both teams came in third as respective teams.

Senior Kelly Arth qualified for the NAIA national championship meet in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.17.

Other top finishes for the women included Tixier sisters senior Christine and freshman Lisa. Each sister won two events, Christine in the 100 yard butterfly and 200 yard butterfly and Lisa in the 100 yard breaststroke and 200 yard IM.

The men had five individual first place finishes. Sophomore Chad Lejeune Junior Edward Campana clinched the top spot in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.60. Fellow junior Shane Brinson won both the one-meter dive and the three-meter dive.

The men also had strong finishes in the meet. The 200 yard freestyle relay team composed of senior Bretton Smith, sophomore James Daughters, freshman Cort Sharp and Campana had a first place finish with a time of 1:27.49.

Both teams gear up to compete in the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference championship on Feb.18-21.
