After a four game dry spell, the women’s basketball team earned a much needed Golden State Athletic Conference win on Thursday against William Jessup University. The Eagles defeated the Warriors 72-44 to put their overall record at 13-10 and their conference record at 5-4.

“We were on a losing streak coming in and we wanted to start the second round of conference play strong,” sophomore guard Annie Park said. “We wanted to go into the game with intensity with the hopes that this game would be a momentum builder.”

Despite getting six personal fouls early into the game, the Eagles took a commanding lead, blowing past the Warriors 14-6 six minutes into the game. Biola’s tight defense and quick passes around the three-point line overwhelmed William Jessup. The Eagles finished the first half with a comfortable lead 38-18.

Park was on fire at the three point line, outscoring William Jessup by herself with 19 total points in the first half. Park finished the half with five three pointers.

The Eagles continued to dominate with a solid 25 point lead seven minutes into the second half. Biola’s largest lead of the night was by 34 points, despite having a lower shooting percentage compared to the first half.

Biola finished the game 72-44. The Eagles currently rank fourth in GSAC and look forward to continuing their momentum into the rest of conference play.

“There’s always room for improvement in every game,” Park said. “But this game was a big step forward for us."

The women will take on Arizona Christian University on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 5:30 p.m.
