It was a battle of the Eagles this weekend on Nov. 8 when Biola women's basketball held a home game against Northwest University for the first time.

In the first half, Biola struggled to gain a lead as both teams put up a high-energy fight, but they pulled through in the last eight minutes and flew past Northwest to take the half 29-22.

The second half started out with a basket made by Northwest junior guard Jordan Asher. However junior guard Amanda Darouie quickly followed up with a three point shot. With Biola eight points in the lead, Northwest's head coach Ken Crawford called a timeout to gather his team.

It seemed as if the timeout helped when junior guard Kristen Frey delivered a basket for Northwest, but Biola's senior forward Elizabeth Munger quickly returned the favor, and soon the women were up by 10.

The score gap continued to increase when Darouie put up a three pointer and Northwest had continual trouble making shots. Another timeout was called by Northwest but the outlook was dim for the Washington-based Eagles.

“Our chemistry and our momentum moves off of each other. As long as one person is on fire it’s just contagious throughout the team,” said senior forward Chelsea Hill, who had seven rebounds on the game.

The women's low amount of turnovers helped their game and their exceptional teamwork that was shown through their 19 assists. After another big push from Biola, the game ended at 66-48, an 18 point lead for Biola.

The Eagles will play Azusa Pacific University on Nov.11 in Chase Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
