Drone purchase put on hold

This week’s Associated Students senate meeting began with a discussion about last week’s approved proposal to purchase a GoPro camera and DJI drone to cover campus events. Due to potential legal issues, Biola’s legal counsel will decide whether or not a drone will be a safety hazard if used inside of the gym to film various events such as Torrey conference.

Biola will not allow AS to purchase the drone until legal counsel makes a decision. However, the GoPro camera and accessories were purchased shortly after the senate approved the proposal, and will be used to film Nationball.

Announcements

Club Fair will occur next week on Sept. 9 and 10, giving students an opportunity to join existing clubs on campus. The first open proposal day, when students outside of AS can make proposals to the senate for student initiatives, is on Sept. 18.
