The Biola volleyball team played two matches in Montana on Sept. 5 for the Carroll College Tournament.
In the first match early Friday morning, the Eagles swept the Montana State Northern Skylights in straight sets. The scores were 25-19, 25-21, and then dominating 25-14 in the third set.
The Eagles played a solid defensive match totaling 11 blocks. Senior middle blocker Amy Weststeyn led the defense with five block assists to go along with two solo blocks, and junior outside hitter Alyssa Mason had one solo block and one block assist. Weststeyn also led the offense with nine kills while Mason and junior outside hitter Britta Blaser each had eight kills.
EAGLES GO FOR TWO
The second match was against a different opponent, but the Eagles won in the same fashion.
The Eagles swept the Carroll College Saints, winning the first three games. In the first game the Eagles coasted to a 25-16 victory. Biola had a tougher time in game two, as the game went into extra points, but the Eagles prevailed 26-24. The Eagles once again dominated in game three, with the score once again being 25-16.
Weststeyn led the charge with 12 kills in 20 attempts along with five blocks. Blaser also played well with 10 kills in 18 attempts and junior libero Alex Brehaut led the team with 17 digs.
The Eagles have two more games tomorrow starting at 12 p.m. at the Carroll College Tournament in Helena, MT.
