Students and employees can continue their day as usual after Campus Safety lifted the campus lockdown.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department took into custody the suspect in a local burglary at approximately 12:10 p.m., said university communications and marketing media relations specialist Jenna Bartlo.

The suspect was in the process of burglarizing a house near campus when the residents came home, said Lt. Jason Skeen, watch commander at the Norwalk Sheriff's station. LASD officers pursued the suspect, who ran onto Biola’s campus.

Biola locked down at approximately 10:36 a.m today while sheriffs searched for the suspect, described as a black male in his 20’s wearing a grey or tan T-shirt and blue jeans, according to a Campus Safety email.

The Chimes will provide updates as more information becomes available.
