Budget proposals

This week’s Associated Students Senate meeting began with a budget proposal for the spring 2014 AS budget. Members of each department proposed their new budgets to the senate for the upcoming spring semester. Each budget was slightly revised, and both increased and decreased in various areas.

The Music and Arts budget was increased for the cost of The Eddy concerts and new promotional tee shirts that will be sold at The Eddy. A new dance workshop will be introduced, which will allow students the opportunity to learn how to dance in a group setting.

The senate spent a lot of time discussing further revisions and which events would best appeal to students while utilizing the budget's responsibility. The senate discussed spending less of the budget on bringing in well-known music bands to lead worship due to the talented bands within Biola and the surrounding area. The senate will be voting on all of the department budget proposals next week.
