Women’s soccer only scored one goal on Friday afternoon in Belmont, but that was all they needed as No. 24 Biola picked up a 1-0 against Notre Dame de Namur.

Victoria Dalla Zanna scored the lone goal for the Eagles in the 61st minute. The senior midfielder received a cross at the top of the 18 from freshman midfielder Jessie Burns. Dalla Zanna trapped it, took several touches, then blasted a shot past the keeper.

Thanks to the five-save tally from junior goalkeeper Briana Williams and a shutout performance from the Biola defense, Dalla Zanna’s goal turned out to be the game winner. In totality, the Argonauts outshot the Eagles 13-11, but were unable to find the back of the net as Biola picked up their third straight shutout.

After starting the season 1-2, the Eagles have now won five straight. Within that stretch, they have outscored their opponents 17-1, with four of the five being clean sheets. The last time Biola was scored on was Sept. 7 at home against Oklahoma Wesleyan University. The Eagles scored halfway through the second half and won 2-1 after giving up an equalizer goal in the 24th minute.

Biola will look to preserve their 336 shutout streak on Tuesday night at Al Barbour Field. Currently undefeated at home this year, Biola will kick off conference play against the undefeated Master’s College. The Eagles lost an overtime thriller against Master’s early last season but ultimately defeated the then No. 24 Mustangs at home in the last game of the regular season.
