Track and field have strong showing against La Verne

The Biola track and field team performed well against La Verne College in a dual meet on Saturday.

 Biola’s track and field team had a strong showing against La Verne College in the La Verne dual meet on Saturday.

Freshman Kellian Hunt secured first place in the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.14, just ahead of fellow freshman Anika Gasner who came in with a time of 2:17.22.

Junior Alexandria Sciarra and Hunt took first and second place in the 600-meter run with times of 1:38.42 and 1:38.82.

Freshman Nicole Falkerstein placed first in pole vault by clearing the 3.23-meter mark while senior Lauren Houck came in second in high jump at 5’2”00.

Sophomore Andrew Daedler finished the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.26 to secure first place. Junior Danny Ledesma locked in a first place finish in the 3000 meter race with a time of 9:05.74.

Also performing well was freshman James McCahon placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.2 while junior Jeff Tran finished first in pole vault with 4.57 meters.  Fellow junior Jordan Smith finished first place in the long jump with a mark of 6.41.

Biola’s next meet is on Feb. 16 at the Concordia Last Chance Qualifier in Irvine.
