The Biola men’s soccer team displayed great effort in the annual alumni game for the 2008-2009 season. Despite losing the game with a score of 4-2, it was an entertaining night of veteran soccer players showing off their abilities and playing the sport hard.

Several opportunities to score were created on both sides of the field, but the veterans of the alumni squad put more away with one goal in the first half and three to follow in the second half of the match. Sophomore forward Phillip Friehe scored the first of two goals for the men’s Eagle team followed by mid-field sophomore Jake Ravenscraft.

With an alumni squad of about 13 All-American and All-Conference players, Bryan Kuderman, head coach, prepared the team ahead of time, warning them it would be a “much more competitive alumni game than any other we’ve ever had.” And with that in mind, the current Eagle squad played hard, giving the fighting veterans a well-played game.

The team of alumni featured the current assistant coach Phil Yovino, recent graduate stars Colin Kilpatrick, Kasey Dunn, John Searles, and the Romanian brothers Cristian and Marius Rus. Other members of the veteran squad included members of the 2002 GSAC championship team Shaun Cole, Dylan Martinez and Edmund McCorkle.
