Biola women’s volleyball cruised through to bracket play at the NAIA National Championship. Biola topped Missouri Baptist University with a four-set victory on Wednesday night.

The Eagles’ senior outside hitter Nicolette Mather collected eight kills, propelling her over the 1,000-kill plateau for her career. The victory clinched a ticket to bracket play as Biola won 25-19, 25-22, 16-25, 25-16.

In the first set the Eagles never trailed, leading 11-10 before surging out to a 19-12 advantage. Both teams exchanged points until Biola clinched the set.

The Spartans fought back in the second set, taking a 16-13 lead, but the Eagles turned it on and went on an 11-4 run moving to set point at 24-20. Missouri Baptist picked up a pair of points before Biola closed out the set taking a 2-0 lead in the match.

In the third set head coach Aaron Seltzer changed up the lineup and it did not pay off — the Eagles trailed the entire set as the Spartans took back a set, making it 2-1 in the match.

The Eagles returned to their original lineup in the fourth set and the move paid off as Biola closed out the match with a 3-1 victory.

Biola has a rematch slated against Lee University on Thursday to wrap up pool play. The Eagles beat Lee earlier this season 3-1.
