Men’s basketball improved to 4-0 with a 72-58 non-conference victory over Bethesda University of California on Wednesday night.

Five players scored in double figures for Biola, including junior guard Zack Zaragoza who led the team with 15. Senior forward David Cline and sophomore center Mike Kurtz both notched 10, with Cline adding 14 boards to record the team’s first double-double of the season.

Biola received solid production from the bench as freshman guard Dalton Mosser reached double figures for the first time this year, scoring 13 points and logging a season-high 21 minutes. Mosser was 5-of-7 from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point land.

“[Mosser] was able to step up and hit some clutch shots that helped us keep the lead,” Cline said of the 6-foot, 1-inch guard from San Diego. “He seemed more comfortable on the floor tonight. That’s what we need.”

Redshirt sophomore Kyle Bailey was also 5-of-7 shooting, adding 11 points and five rebounds off the bench.

Bethesda freshman Daniel Chavez had a game-high 17 points for the Flames.

The Eagles will take a week off before traveling south to play California State University San Marcos on Nov. 14 in the fifth of 16 non-conference matchups.
