Biola University’s volleyball team won against Westmont College after five hard fought sets on Saturday in a Golden State Athletic Conference match on Saturday.
The Eagles and the Warriors went into the first set playing tough against each other. Biola took an early lead at 7-4 and continued their momentum to win the set 25-23.
Despite the Eagles trailing behind 17-9 at one point in the second set, they never lost their drive and came out on top 25-23.
Biola had a promising lead in the third set at 7-1, but the Warriors came from behind and tied the game at 12-12. Biola and Westmont stayed within one point from each other for the rest of the set. Westmont was able to secure the win at 26-24.
In the fourth set, Biola fell behind Westmont early at 13-1 but came back to tie the game at 23-23. The Eagles fell once again to Westmont 30-28.
The Eagles and the Warriors stayed within one point from each other throughout the entire fifth set. Biola rallied together when the game was tied at 15 and sealed the win with two straight kills from senior middle Chelsee Arnitz and fellow senior outside hitter Christine Douglas.
Biola is now 25-3 overall and 11-1 in GSAC play. The Eagles will play against San Diego Christian College at Chase Gymnasium on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
