Women’s basketball falls to Australian team

Australian Institute of Sport defeats the Biola women’s basketball team in the final exhibition game before regular season.

The women’s basketball team lost their final exhibition game before the regular season 69-57 to the Australian Institute of Sport Wednesday night. Senior guard Jamie Elias lead the way for the Eagles with 14 points and four assists.

Biola and Australia played neck and neck until the final five minutes of the first half when Australia went on a 11-2 run to finish off the half, leading 30-21.

In the second half, the Eagles hung with Australia keeping it to a six-point game, but Australia pulled ahead with 17 minutes left. Australia went on a 13-0 run, extending their lead to 48-29.

The Eagles slowly climbed back, but were never able to catch up and fell 69-57.

Sophomore forward Chelsea Hill picked up 11 points and five boards for Biola while freshman guard Aubree Mittel 12 points, four rebounds and two assists.
