Women’s soccer defeats Concordia University Irvine in overtime

The Biola Eagles defeated Concordia University Irvine in overtime play on Saturday.

The Biola women's soccer team came back to beat Concordia University Irvine in a dramatic overtime victory Saturday. This win lifts the Biola Eagles to a 5-3-0 record in GSAC play and an 8-6-1 record in overall play for the season.

Going into the second half the teams were tied at 0-0. Concordia's Val Barrios scored in the 53rd minute putting them on the board with a 1-0 lead. With 14 minutes left to play, Biola freshman Amanda Otto scored the goal to tie the game with an assist from junior Jessica Austin. Neither team scored for the remainder of the second half pushing the game to overtime.

After eight minutes of play, sophomore Miranda Starbeck scored the winning goal for the Eagles. The women's soccer team heads to Phoenix, Ariz. to begin their final week of regular season play Arizona Christian College on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
