Volleyball bounces back with win over Point Loma

Following a loss to Concordia University Irvine, the Eagles beat Point Loma Nazarene University in straight sets.

Women’s volleyball bounced back from a loss to undefeated Concordia University Irvine with a 3-0 victory over Point Loma Nazarene University on Tuesday.

Though Biola won in straight sets, each set was a tight-fought battle.

In the first set the Crusaders stayed tight with the Eagles, but Biola was able to close it out with a 10-4 run to take the set 25-17.

The second set was very back and forth; there were five lead changes, with Biola coming out on top 25-17.

Point Loma came close in the third set, going on a 6-0 run to make it 24-23 Biola. The Crusaders were never able to catch the Eagles, though. Biola held on and took the final set, and the match, 25-23.

Sophomore Amy Weststeyn led the way for the Eagles with 14 kills and two blocks. Senior Rachel Buckley added five blocks of her own.

The Eagles’ next match is at home on Saturday against The Master’s College at 1 p.m. Biola is now 20-2 overall and 6-1 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.
