The Eagles traveled to Santa Barbara Saturday afternoon looking for their third conference win, but returned home empty handed following a 5-0 beatdown by Westmont College.

A first-half goal in the 30th minute by Westmont’s Gerald Ben was all the Warriors would need on the night. The sophomore forward took an outside shot from the right side which squirted past freshman goalkeeper Joshua Crichton to get things started for Westmont.

Second half would prove equally as challenging for the Eagles. Westmont came out with another goal from Ben, one from sophomore midfielder Jonathan Yeeles, and two scores from junior Emmanuel Akyen. Akyen’s second was off a penalty kick after Crichton was called for coming out and tripping the streaking midfielder. Crichton received a yellow card for the foul.

Biola continued to pressure and take shots despite trailing much of the match. The men were narrowly outshot by the Warriors 15-14, but won eight more corners than the home squad.

The Eagles return home Wednesday to take on San Diego Christian College at 7 p.m. Biola is 3-0 at Al Barbour Field, 6-4-1 overall, and have yet to concede a goal at home this season.
