Biola volleyball added another notch to their belt, cruising to a victory over Westmont College Saturday night. Biola, who is now 18-1 in the season, won the match in three sets, 25-13, 25-16, 25-20 extending their win streak to seventeen matches.

The first set proved to be easy for Biola as they maintained a strong lead throughout. Biola swept past Westmont and won the set off of a Christine Douglas kill to the back right corner.

The second set was more difficult for Biola as Westmont came out with a strong lead. The score fluctuated for some time until a kill by sophomore Amy Weststeyn lit a fire under the Eagles. This kill, along with kills by freshman Joclyn Kirton and the senior Douglas, pushed Biola to a 25-16 victory.

Though the third set was more difficult than the first two, it demonstrated the heart of the Biola volleyball team. Despite long rallies and mishaps on Biola’s part, the Eagles would continue to fight for a three-set victory. This aspiration came after a tip to front-center by Weststeyn that was not picked up by Westmont.

The Eagles return to the court on Tuesday night with a Golden State Athletic Conference match against San Diego Christian in El Cajon.
