The men’s soccer team started off Golden State Athletic Conference play with a 1-0 win over The Master’s College. The Eagles extended their undefeated streak to five games with the shutout victory to improve their record to 5-2-1.
Both teams came up empty in the first half with neither team able to capitalize on opportunities. The Eagles outshot the Mustangs 5-3 in the half, but it was all for naught.
In the second half, junior forward Carlos Ballesteros gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 61st minute when he knocked in a long throw from freshman forward Stephen Tanquary.
Master’s was not short on opportunities in the second half, outshooting Biola 9-4, but the Eagle defense and freshman goalkeeper Joshua Crichton kept the Mustangs at bay.
Biola’s roadtrip will come to a close in Irvine this Saturday at Concordia University in a rematch of last year’s GSAC Championship Game.
