In their last preseason game of the year, the Biola women's soccer team dominated the University of California Santa Cruz in a 4-1 victory on Friday night.

The Eagles took control in the first half of the game, but did not manage a goal until the 38th minute of the match when junior Michelle Andre headed the ball inside the net after a corner kick taken by senior Taylor Lundquist. Despite a total of seven shots by Biola in the first period, the Eagles ended the half ahead of Santa Cruz by just one goal.

With a couple of crucial substitutions, the Eagles entered the second half confident, managing to keep the ball near the Santa Cruz goal. Biola was able to score three more goals early in the second half.

The second goal came in the 53rd minute when senior Natalie Oliver crossed the ball from the left side of the pitch, enabling sophomore Miranda Starbeck a one touch hit into the net. Nine minutes later, Lundquist managed a perfectly placed 30-yard kick into the top right of the net. And it was junior Jessica Austin's breakaway goal in the 68th minute that kept the Eagles at 4-0 lead over the Banana Slugs.

Santa Cruz managed to score a late goal in the 89th minute, but fell short overall and only managed a total of three shots on target throughout the game.

The Eagles will play their first Golden State Athletic Conference match on Tuesday Sept. 24 where they will be facing The Master's College at 4 p.m. In Santa Clarita. They will continue on the road with another match against Concordia University on Sept. 29 at 3 p.m.
