Today the Biola women’s soccer team took on Marymount College at home and beat them 2-0.
Biola started out the game ready to defend their field and kept possession for most of the first half. In the eighth minute of play, Biola’s Brittany Barr scored a goal to put Biola up 1-0. Marymount only put one shot on goal in the first half and Biola kept up the pressure with multiple scoring opportunities.
Going into the second half, Marymount came out more aggressive fighting for ball control. Throughout the half there was aggressive pushing and jumping in attempts to get a head on the ball. With three minutes left in the game, Marymount fouled Biola on top of the 18-yard line and which resulted in a free kick. Katie Cabuling took the kick and put it in the back of the net giving Biola its second goal of the game.
Biola finished the game with a strong win 2-0 notching their first win on the season, improving their record to 1-2-0 overall on the season. The Eagles will face Pomona-Pitzer California Saturday, September 8th at 7 p.m. at home.
