Men’s golf finishes fifth at NAIA qualifier

The men’s golf team ended their season with one of their best performances at the NAIA Unaffiliated Grouping Golf Tournament.

Biola men’s golf wrapped up their 2012 season with one of their best performances in program history at the NAIA Unaffiliated Grouping Golf Tournament.

Freshman Kyle Schrader tied for sixth individually, shooting a 6-over-222 overall, and led the team to a fifth-place finish out of 12 teams at Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside.

The Eagles shot a three-round 930 overall for the team, just two shots ahead of Warner Pacific College. Point Loma Nazarene University took home top honors with 879, led by second and third-place finishes by Ryan Ellerbrook and Zane Keith.

The Sea Lions are currently ranked 11th in the NAIA and were the only ranked team in the tournament, as they beat second place The Master’s College by 14 strokes.

Freshman lead way for Eagles

Freshman Nick Grady, who just joined the team in February, followed Schrader with Biola’s second-lowest score. Grady posted a 236, good enough for 28th place overall in just his second collegiate tournament.

On the other end, it was the final collegiate performance for seniors John Graham and Greg Bodine, who shot a 238 and 249 respectively.
