Police were alerted to a bank robbery on Thursday at Saehan Bank, on Rosecrans Avenue and Beach Boulevard. The standoff ended around 3:00 p.m. after the SWAT team opened fire and wounded the robber, according to a report made by ABC News.
The suspect, armed with a gun, entered the bank around 11:00 a.m. and ordered everyone out of the bank except for a female manager, according to the authorities. The SWAT team was called in, and parts of Beach Boulevard were closed off. The police tried to make contact with the gunman, who slipped a note through the crack of the door. Authorities did not say what the man’s demands were.
The SWAT team entered the building at 3:00 p.m. and opened fire on the suspect. The bank manager was rescued, and the suspect was taken to UCI Medical Center. According to police, the suspect refused to cooperate with the officers as they were trying to take him into custody.
Afterwards, a bomb squad entered the building in order to investigate suspicious packages that the suspect left behind. The shooting is currently being investigated by the Orange Country District Attorney’s Office.
