After cruising through a win against Cal Lutheran on Sunday, Feb. 19, the Biola men’s lacrosse team came back to Al Barbour Field on Saturday, Feb. 25 and was defeated by Concordia University by a score of 16-7. Concordia fended off Biola down the stretch after securing a 14-7 lead with less than 11 minutes remaining in the game. Biola was unable to recover from their slow start.

Early lead too much for Eagles

Concordia jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half of the first period, scoring its first goal in the first six seconds of the game; the next three would come within minutes of the first. Biola’s late response and Concordia’s persistent offensive left the score at 12-5 at the end of the half.

Biola junior Jeff Clark opened up the second half with a goal, and Biola’s composure was noticeably changed as they cut down Concordia’s offensive attacks, allowing only one goal in the third period. Although Biola’s defense improved, their offense was only able to tally two goals in the third quarter; their last two of the game.

Strong finish seals victory for Concordia

In the fourth quarter, Concordia wasted no time removing any suspense from the game’s final 15 minutes. Concordia found the back of the net three more times that quarter leaving Biola short nine goals at the end of the game.

Biola will return to the field on Sunday, March 4, in a Southwestern Lacrosse Conference game at Occidental College in Los Angeles, Calif. Face off is set for 1:30 p.m.
