Biola volleyball dominates San Diego Christian on senior night

Biola Women’s volleyball wins last home game and honors senior teammates.

Eagles win final home game of the season 3-0

Tonight the Biola Women’s volleyball team played their final home game of the season and won 3-0 against San Diego Christian College.

In the first set, freshman Amy Weststeyn and junior Christine Douglas led the team in kills. Weststeyn and senior Sarah Schweiger made block after block against the Hawks. Senior Christian Woodruff got an ace for the set point and Biola won the set 25-15.

Again, Schweiger and Weststeyn led the team in hits. Freshman Rachel Krueger had a solo block and together, Krueger and Weststeyn proved unstoppable blocking San Diego Christian’s hits. The Hawks committed an error giving Biola their second set win of 25-19.

Third set win comes easy, Eagles win by 13

Biola won the third set easily 25-12 against the Hawks. Krueger and Weststeyn had multiple blocks that contributed to Biola’s third set win. Weststeyn and Schweiger again led the team in hits and Woodruff had multiple aces. Finally, the third set came to an end and Biola was victorious in a 3-0 win against San Diego Christian College.

After the game was the senior night ceremony where coach Aaron Seltzer honored three seniors, Joy Talcott, Schweiger, and Woodruff. After, teammates and families of the seniors joined in the celebration.

The women’s volleyball team hits the road on Tuesday, Nov. 8 to face NAIA No. 9 Fresno Pacific University at 7 p.m. in what is a key match for both teams.
