The Biola women’s soccer team lost 1-0 to No. 4 ranked Point Loma Nazarene University in a conference matchup on Saturday. The Eagles fall to an 8-6 overall record and 5-2 in the GSAC, while the Sea Lions remain unbeaten and improve to 15-0 overall and 7-0 in the conference.
Point Loma took a 1-0 lead with a goal by a header from Erica Wessels a little over 10 minutes into the game. It turned out to be the game winning shot since both teams remained scoreless for the rest of the match. The Eagles had only two shot attempts in the first period in contrast to the Sea Lions’ six shot attempts.
Biola spent the second half desperately trying to net a goal to tie up the score. They had five shot attempts and held Point Loma to only one, which came from [Katherine Caldwell] (http://www.plnusealions.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=1032&path=wsoc “”) about two minutes into the period. However, the Eagles were unable to land a shot within the goal and get past Sea Lion goalkeeper, [Tiffany Kracy] (http://www.plnusealions.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=1019&path=wsoc “”).
Senior [Erin Frushon] (http://athletics.biola.edu/roster.aspx?rp_id=1239&path=wsoc “”) had 2 saves for Biola, while Kracy had 3 for Point Loma. Earlier this week, Frushon received both GSAC Defensive Player of the Week and NAIA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Eagles’ next game will be against The Master’s College in an away game on Oct. 26.
