Jon McLaughlin’s new album is anything but bland. His innovative, highly anticipated album “Forever If Ever” was released on Sept. 6, and is already climbing the Billboard charts. Within three days of being released his album is 18th on the iTunes charts and could quite possibly make it to the top. He rapidly received a five out of five star rating, according to iTunes’ customer vote, for his authentic work in the album. His voice is a new blend of pop and contemporary Christian rock that this century is surely lacking.
McLaughlin collaborates with The Voice star
With today’s unoriginal and overdone sound of music, McLaughlin provides a distinctive and rich voice in his new album. The first single released from the album titled “Summer is Over” gives an upbeat sound to a catchy love song. Other songs include “I Will Follow You,” which demonstrates his faith in Christ and how he knows he will never be deserted, as long as he follows in Christs’ plan. “What I Want,” describes how people of this generation can be self-centered and push away from others. “The sun revolves around a world you swear is black and white/ but you’ve had your eyes closed for so long you’ve forgotten what it looks like.”
The most popular track on his new album is titled “Maybe It’s Over,” which features Xenia, a high school student who was newly discovered on the show The Voice. This brilliant duet demonstrates the two singers in a breathtakingly brilliant way.
Adding to a successful career
Since age 17 McLaughlin has been a devoted Christian.
“Being a Christian is something that bleeds into every part of my life,” he explains in an interview to The Fish radio station. His relationship with Jesus Christ is evident in each of his songs.
Born in Anderson, Ind., McLaughlin grew up playing the piano with evident talent. His pop-rock genre of music has captivated the hearts of music lovers since 2003, when he released an independent album, “Up Until Now.”
McLaughlin is far from inexperienced when it comes to the music industry. He has opened for Kelly Clarkson on tour, written various tracks for the movie “Enchanted” and co-written some of Demi Lovato’s music. McLaughlin has also comfortably stayed on the Billboard Adult Top 40 for over 12 weeks.
He has also been fifth on various Christian music charts, such as: Christian Adult Contemporary and World of Christian Music. His albums have received the recognition of American music journalist Chuck Taylor, who wrote, “It’s high time for singer/songwriter Jon McLaughlin to earn his due.”
His nationwide tour has already set off and will be traveling to 28 states as well as Canada. Listeners have yet to be disappointed in McLaughlin’s music. The instruments, vocals and lyrics reflect his talent as a musician — leaving listeners, like myself, wanting more.
With his powerful message about devoting your faith in the Lord and his successful unmistakably authentic sound, McLaughlin presents yet another successful edition to his music career. “Forever If Ever” is bound to have you listening daily and keeping it consistently on replay.
