Biola baseball beats Point Loma Nazarene

The Eagles turn in another good performance, bringing in a 7-5 victory Monday against Point Loma Nazarene University.

The Biola University Eagles beat the Point Loma Nazarene Universty Sea Lions 7-5 Monday, April 18 with a walk-off home run from senior Brent Opdyke.

Biola leads early

The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when junior Drake Fages doubled to bring home junior Boone Farrington.

In the top of the second inning, Point Loma scored one, but Biola came back in the bottom of the frame and scored again. Senior Brian Loard clubbed his eighth home run of the year to take a 2-1 lead.

Two-run homer secures Eagles’ victory

Down 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Biola’s Boone Farrington singled with one out, bringing home sophomore Benji Sutherland and tying the score at 5-5. Then in the bottom of the seventh inning Loard hit a two-out single with the bases empty and Opdyke crushed a two-run home run over the fence in right field to help the Eagles walk off with their 28th win of the year.

Biola ranked high in conferences

Biola is 28-16 on the year and sits in second place in the Golden State Athletic Conference and is ninth in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
