The Biola track team was well represented with individual performances at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, April 9. Biola’s top competitor was sophomore Alexandra Zalesky, who placed third in the women’s pole vault event. Next up was sophomore Alex Calkins, who landed the number eight spot in the men’s pole vault.

Freshman Beatriz Delgadillo ran well and placed eighth in the women’s 400-meter hurdles. In the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior Erika Perez took ninth, while freshman Rebecca Asplund placed 10th to round out the four athletes who made it into the top 10 of their specific events. This was Asplund’s first race since she had to sit out for three weeks due to an injury to her left foot.

“It felt good to race and compete again,” Asplund said.

Many of Biola’s runners did not compete in the invitational because of the coach’s decision to allow them to rest for upcoming meets including the Long Beach Invitational, which will be held Saturday, April 16.
