Intramurals hit championship game time

McNally Field on Saturday could be as busy as the library with Biola students preparing for finals. With just one week of classes remaining before final exams, the intramural softball championship will commence at 3 p.m. with all four playoff tournament games taking place before.

The Usual Suspects snuck their way into the final A-League playoff seed but will have a tough road to the championship game. Their first round game will be against the defending champion Shooting Star Dolphins. Also lurking in the A-League Playoffs is the No. 1 seeded Pirate Monkeys who dispatched of the Suspects 11-6.

The B-League playoffs feature the only undefeated team in all of intramural softball, Softball for Dummies. Their biggest competition may come in the form of Afternoon Delight, who has just one loss.

Inside the Chase Gymnasium, the basketball championship games are set for all five divisions.

The Women’s Championship is Wednesday night between Acid Rain and the Dream Team. Both of the teams have already played twice this week, winning definitively to make into the Championship.

B League East’s Championship will come down to Hope BC and Potential battling it out Thursday at 9.

Followed by B-League West’s Championship and the A-League Championship between Samurai ‘08 and Christ Like, in what will be a rematch of a thriller from two weeks ago when Samurai ‘08 was able to edge Christ Like by just a few points.

The champion of intramural soccer will be determined Saturday night under the lights of Al Barbour Field with B-League at 7 p.m. and A-League following at 8:30 p.m. between undetermined teams.

Without knowing who exactly will be in the game, there still are some early favorites.

“Skillz that Killz is a very good team in B League,” said Intramural Board Representative senior Patrick McDonald, who is in charge of overseeing soccer.

“Huma Huma is probably the early favorites because they have an all-around talented team,” McDonald said.

With this being the last week of the ’07-’08 intramural season, make sure to go out and support your friends and say goodbye to the intramural board that has been in charge of intramurals for the last two years.
