The men’s golf team finished out their season on Tuesday, finishing fourth place in The Master’s College Spring Invitational in Llano, Calif. Freshman Justin Halverson etched his name into the record books, scoring a hole-in-one on the 11th tee on Tuesday, the first in Biola’s history. Representing Biola on the links for the two-day tournament were freshman Greg Bodine, junior C.J. Clark, freshman Tim Goodfriend, Halverson and freshman Jeff Wille.

Bodine led Biola in overall score at 31 over par (247). Goodfriend, Wille, Clark and Halverson followed with 37, 40, 42 and 44, respectively. Concordia edged out Master’s by three strokes, and Cal Baptist slipped into third.

This tournament marked the end of the program’s initial season. On paper, the results show failure, but the team has had fun just playing golf and gaining experience.

“It’s exciting to be a part of a team that’s just starting out,” said Clark. “We’re definitely looking forward to next year when we’ll have better players.”

Many of the golfers have seen personal improvement this season, such as Wille whose scores have steadily decreased as the season progressed.

The players enjoyed Llano’s well-kept course, and although the competition was stiff and their opponents were tough, the players felt that it was just a good day for golf.
