Biola softball shut out La Sierra, 12-0 in a mercy-rule shortened game Friday afternoon, Feb. 25. The scheduled match ended after only five innings.

Senior Lyndsie Roberts pitched the first four innings of the game and freshman Shaylynn Weststeyn, took over the fifth inning. Assistant coach Lauren Heurkins pointed out how impressive Weststeyn’s performance was, in the wake of a painful back injury from which she is still in recovery. Weststeyn struck out all three hitters she faced.

Senior Jillian Storm went 3-4 in the game. Freshmen Cece Luster and Natalie Parker both collected two hits in the shortened contest.

“We are most looking forward to playing Azusa and Cal Baptist this season” Heurkins said, “because it is the last time we get to play them before they move to division two next year.”
