About 20 students celebrated the Guerilla Film Society’s website launch in front of Common Grounds on Wednesday night.
The event, complete with a live DJ and free food, concluded a year of hard work on the website, according to coordinator and sophomore film major Jonathan Hensley.
Guerilla Film Society, a campus club mostly comprised of film majors, averages about 30 to 50 attendees at each weekly meeting, Hensley said. The new website will hopefully give filmmakers the ability to showcase their work.
“Our goal is to give the film majors a student-run website where they can go to learn about film projects and create a resume online,” Hensley said.
The launch party was designed to give club members an overview of the website. Trouble with a projector prevented a comprehensive website walkthrough, but attendees could still explore the new URL on two nearby computers. Most audience members chose to enjoy the event by rocking out to the music and chatting with friends.
The Guerilla Film Society meets Wednesday nights at 9:45pm in Business 206.
