Everyone goes through hard times, and everyone has pain, but not everyone deals with their emotions in a healthy way. This article is going to give some insight to healthy ways to release emotion.
There are many times when negative events occur that weigh heavy on the mind, heart and spirit. Often, people choose to bottle up their emotions because they downplay the severity of what is happening. Holding your emotions in is one of the worst things you could do. Recognizing that your troubles are significant is the first step. Find someone to talk to about what is going on in your life, that way you can get the negativity off your chest and be on the road to healing that much faster. If you do not have anyone you feel comfortable talking to, journaling is another way to let out your emotions. Talking to God is the best way to accomplish both journaling and talking to someone. God is the ultimate healer.
Another way to get your mind off of things is to go out and have fun. Going to Disneyland is a fun way to get away from reality and step into a world of fantasy and fun. Get some friends together and enter into the Happiest Place on Earth! If you do not have a Disneyland pass, the beach is a fun and free way to escape. The waves are calming, the sun is soothing and the breeze is relaxing. It is said that the ocean is a healing place. This is not to say that running away from your problems is a good thing, but sometimes it is nice to step back, and take a breather.
Holding in your hurt and pain is never the answer. Remember that the most important and best way to heal is to bring your problems to the Lord. Isaiah 40:30-31 says, “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Recognize that you are weak without God, ask for his divine intervention and healing, and begin recovery. Heal the healthy way.
