The Eagles and the Westmont Warriors were a matchup that featured a clash of styles — Biola is the NAIA’s best defensive team, and Westmont is among the top shooting teams in the NAIA, shooting 43.8 percent from beyond the arc and an impressive 51.7 percent from the floor.

Biola’s defense prevailed, though, fighting hard late in the game to secure a 62-43 win that preserved the team’s perfect record and its No. 4 NAIA national ranking.

The Eagles offense sputtered in the first half, shooting a dismal 25.8 percent. Its defense held strong, however, and kept the team ahead going into halftime.

The Eagles found their groove in the second half, connecting on 66.7 percent of their shots, and putting some distance between them and the Warriors.

Biola’s stout defense held Westmont to 0-11 from downtown in the second half, allowing them to stretch its lead and finish with the victory.

Senior guard Marlon King, who was recently named the GSAC Player of the Week, continued his stellar play, tallying up 22 points and five assists during the game.

Biola’s victory over Westmont sets up a colossal matchup between two of the four remaining unbeaten teams in the NAIA — No. 4 Biola hosts No. 2 Concordia on Saturday.
