Intramural playoffs heat up

Over the course of the weekend champions will be crowned in each of the fall intramural sports, as the playoffs kick into gear.

In volleyball, the top six teams in the A-league and top four in each of the B-leagues have qualified for the playoffs. The Hobbits, Hope VC and Lil’ Bit O’ Color all finished their seasons in the A league with identical 5-1 records. The Hobbits and Hope VC will have a bye for the first round. Miyagi sits atop the B-league in Division II, and will play in the first round against fourth-seed Voldermort.

For volleyball, all rounds of playoff games will be played tonight with A and B league championship games happening Friday, Nov. 16, at 10 and 11 p.m.

The Ultimate Frisbee league has a few teams that head into the playoff weekend with perfect records. Team Potential is the sole team to come out of the B-league, after finishing the season 8-0. They will play Maher Shalal Hash Baz in the first their first round game on Friday. Hash Baz finished the year in the A-league with a 7-0 record, atop the division with the Centennials, who also finished the year undefeated.

First round and semi-final games for Ultimate Frisbee will be played on Friday, Nov 16. The championship game takes place at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, and will be played on the turf soccer field under the lights.

Pigeon #2 is the lone undefeated squad in the men’s football league heading into the playoffs. Armagedon finished 8-0 to lead the women’s division into the playoffs. The top two seeds in both divisions, Pigeon #2, Mighty Men of Valor for the men and Armagedon and DTA for the women will all have a bye for the first round.

The flag football playoffs will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for both the men’s and women’s leagues. The women’s championship game will be played on Sunday at 7 p.m. on the Al Barbour Field, with the men’s game directly following it.

The inaugural Biola dodgeball intramural season came to a close late Wednesday night.

Heading into the playoff night, Lil’ Bit O’Color was seeded first after finishing the regular season a perfect 8-0. They took on Off in the Woods, a team that finished 4-4, in the first round. The Poke Masters and Bad News both finished the regular season 7-1, and played the Flying Porcupines and the Torrey Bulldogs respectively in the first round. The Cat Straighters and 3 Guys, 4 Girls, who both finished the regular season at 5-3, faced each other in the first round.
