Men’s basketball returned home to Chase Gymnasium in La Mirada, Calif. friday night to go up against the Point Loma Nazarene University Sea Lions. The Eagles kept the winning streak going as they secured their sixth game this season, 69-62. This is the first game that the Eagles have played against the Sea Lions due to games being postponed for COVID-19 protocol earlier in the season.
The Eagles showed up and showed out. Senior forward Jesse Elrod finished at the top of the stat sheet scoring 17 points. Senior guard Michael Bagatourian followed with 16 points and 10 rebounds, the most rebounds from Biola for the night. Junior guard Alex Wright followed with a total of 16 points and eight rebounds.

The Eagles came out fighting and scored the first seven points of the game. The Eagles left the Sea Lions in the dust. With only 11 minutes left in the first half Biola already had a 14 lead advantage. The Eagles hustled leaving the Sea Lions struggling to score. Biola kept a steady pace adding to the score and having a double digit lead at half time, 37-25.
The Eagles were on top of their defense and came into the second half motivated to increase the deficit. Biola showed no mercy as they continued to add to their score. The Eagles made 13 points off of turnovers and scored 26 points in the paint. The Eagles were in a double digit lead the majority of the night and did not let the Sea Lions catch up. Biola secured another victory, 69-62.
The Eagles (6-2) will go up against PLNU for a second time at Golden Gymnasium Saturday, Feb. 20 starting at 4:30 p.m. The live-stream game footage is available on Biola Athletics’ webpage.
